Strengthening climate actions in Ukrainian communities

Ukraine is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and has identified agriculture, water resources, energy, transportation, health, the urban environment and forests, and coastal zone management as key adaptation priorities. As a result of recent decentralization reforms, communities have more autonomy in decision-making, receiving a significant share of taxes. However, international climate commitments are not yet adequately linked to national policies.

Supporting Ukraine in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and adaptation to the impact of climate change in the Black Sea region (PAABS)

The project advises Ukraine on how to implement the Paris Agreement by promoting a low-carbon economy and climate-resilient future. It supports the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources (MEPR) in planning, realising and monitoring the transformation. To do so, it supports knowledge-building and provides instruments to align reporting on the Paris Agreement with international standards.
