As a forthcoming independent Center of Excellence focused on climate issues, the Ukrainian Climate Office (UCO) actively backs Ukraine’s climate policy initiatives in both national and international arenas.

New Steps taken towards the new «Renewables for Resilient Ukraine» Project
The project “Renewables for Resilient Ukraine” aims for 16 Ukrainian communities to receive grants of 30k – 50k EUR to install solar power systems or heat pumps in public buildings: schools, hospitals, kindergartens etc.
This has been realized by the consortium of NGOs (Ecoclub, Ecodia, Energy Act For Ukraine Foundation, RePower Ukraine) in political partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Energy. Currently, the grant agreement with NGOs has been signed and a technical concept for the project has been developed.
Coordination Meeting of NGOs and Members of the Rebuild Ukraine Green Platform
Prior to the 3rd German-Ukrainian Energy Day, Deputy Head of the Low Carbon Ukraine project Pavel Bilek attended the coordination meeting of NGOs and members of the Rebuild Ukraine Green platform. During the full-day event, the participants discussed the major opportunities and obstacles for Ukraine’s reconstruction and the need to ensure green principles and sustainability are prioritized in any rebuilding activities.
German-Ukrainian Energy Day 2023
The annual German-Ukrainian Energy Day within the framework of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership strengthens the partnership between Germany and Ukraine, facilitating strategic engagement, knowledge exchange, and business opportunities within the energy sector. This year’s event was held in Berlin on the 25th of October. During the event, Robert Kirchner, Team Leader of the Low Carbon Ukraine project, participated in a panel on “Strengthening Frameworks for Sustainable Development and Market Integration of the Ukrainian Energy Sector”.
IKI Ukraine Conference on Ambitious Climate Policy in Times of Conflict — A Catalyst for Sustainable Networks
At the COP28, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action announced that it would contribute EUR 33 million from the IKI to an international fund to leverage private investments in renewable energy and efficiency projects in emerging and developing countries.
