Vote for the best climate adaptation solutions implemented in Ukrainian communities!

Pub­lic vot­ing has start­ed in the Adapter­ra UA 2026 com­pe­ti­tion – an annu­al ini­tia­tive of the NGO Eco­club aimed at iden­ti­fy­ing, recog­nis­ing and pro­mot­ing prac­ti­cal solu­tions that help Ukrain­ian com­mu­ni­ties adapt to cli­mate change. Vot­ing is open from 15 Sep­tem­ber to 11 Octo­ber 2026 on the adapterra.org.ua web­site.

Out of 51 appli­ca­tions from 19 regions of Ukraine, an inde­pen­dent jury select­ed 10 final­ists. They include peat­land restora­tion in Lviv, a grass mow­ing guide, eco-quests for chil­dren, the restora­tion of viti­cul­ture on dem­ined land, as well as oth­er solu­tions focused on pro­tect­ing water resources, green spaces and pro­mot­ing sus­tain­able agri­cul­ture. Now, your vote will help decide the win­ners.

Choose your favourite project in each of the three cat­e­gories:

• Ini­tia­tive imple­ment­ed by a munic­i­pal­i­ty
• Ini­tia­tive imple­ment­ed by the pub­lic
• Method­olog­i­cal mate­ri­als on cli­mate change adap­ta­tion and vul­ner­a­bil­i­ty assess­ment

The win­ners will be announced at an award cer­e­mo­ny fol­low­ing the pub­lic vot­ing. They will receive finan­cial sup­port of up to UAH 80,000 to fur­ther devel­op their ini­tia­tives, pub­lic recog­ni­tion of their work, and pro­mo­tion of their projects on the Adapter­ra UA infor­ma­tion plat­form – help­ing more com­mu­ni­ties across Ukraine repli­cate suc­cess­ful solu­tions.

The Adapter­ra UA 2026 com­pe­ti­tion is organ­ised by the NGO Eco­club with­in the frame­work of the project “Sup­port­ing Ukraine in Imple­ment­ing the Paris Agree­ment and Adapt­ing to the Impacts of Cli­mate Change in the Black Sea Region” (PAABS). It brings togeth­er projects that have already been imple­ment­ed in Ukrain­ian com­mu­ni­ties in response to spe­cif­ic cli­mate chal­lenges, includ­ing droughts, flood­ing, extreme heat and oth­er impacts of cli­mate change.

Last year, more than 2,500 peo­ple vot­ed for the final­ist projects. Every vote mat­ters: the more peo­ple learn about the solu­tions pre­sent­ed, the greater the chance that oth­er com­mu­ni­ties across Ukraine will be able to adopt and repli­cate these suc­cess­ful approach­es.
