Ukraine to Present Its Nationally Determined Contribution: Stakeholders Invited to Engage

The Min­istry of Envi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion and Nat­ur­al Resources of Ukraine is final­iz­ing the devel­op­ment of sce­nar­ios for Ukraine’s cli­mate com­mit­ment under the Paris Agree­ment – the Nation­al­ly Deter­mined Con­tri­bu­tion (NDC).

The updat­ed NDC will out­line Ukraine’s green­house gas emis­sions tar­gets until 2035. In devel­op­ing this doc­u­ment, Ukraine aims to ensure an open, inclu­sive process by engag­ing rep­re­sen­ta­tives from gov­ern­ment, busi­ness, civ­il soci­ety, and the inter­na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty.

In this con­text, a hybrid event titled Cli­mate Pol­i­cy of Ukraine: Ukraine’s NDC Amid Cur­rent Chal­lenges will take place on May 27, 2025.

Key agen­da top­ics include:

Pre­sen­ta­tion of Ukraine’s updat­ed cli­mate tar­gets until 2035 and asso­ci­at­ed sce­nario mod­el­ing;

The impact of the war on the econ­o­my, infra­struc­ture, and envi­ron­ment, and the ways to address these chal­lenges in the new NDC;

Decar­boniza­tion strate­gies and finan­cial mech­a­nisms to sup­port green recov­ery;

Oppor­tu­ni­ties for gov­ern­ment insti­tu­tions, busi­ness­es, and civ­il soci­ety to con­tribute to the trans­for­ma­tion.

Par­tic­i­pa­tion is open to rep­re­sen­ta­tives of min­istries, busi­ness lead­ers, civ­il soci­ety orga­ni­za­tions, youth ini­tia­tives, and inter­na­tion­al part­ners.
