Ukraine Presents Key Achievements in Climate Policy Ahead of COP30

On 21 Octo­ber 2025, a hybrid event will be held in Kyiv ded­i­cat­ed to Ukraine’s main achieve­ments in imple­ment­ing the Paris Agree­ment, which Ukraine will present at COP30 in Brazil.

We invite representatives from the governments of Ukraine and Germany, international and Ukrainian experts, policymakers, civil society representatives, business, and journalists to participate.

Dur­ing the event “Ukraine’s Cli­mate Mile­stones – On the Way to COP30”, the fol­low­ing top­ics will be pre­sent­ed:

• Pri­or­i­ties and plans of Ukraine for this year’s inter­na­tion­al cli­mate con­fer­ence COP30.
• Progress in Ukraine’s cli­mate pol­i­cy, in par­tic­u­lar with­in the frame­work of the Sec­ond Nation­al­ly Deter­mined Con­tri­bu­tion (NDC2), the updat­ed Long-Term Low Emis­sion Devel­op­ment Strat­e­gy until 2050 (LT-LEDS), and the First Bien­ni­al Trans­paren­cy Report (BTR).
• Per­spec­tives, chal­lenges, and oppor­tu­ni­ties in imple­ment­ing cli­mate pol­i­cy, espe­cial­ly in the con­text of Euro­pean inte­gra­tion.

Par­tic­i­pants will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to dis­cuss path­ways for imple­ment­ing cli­mate goals, inte­gra­tion with post-war recov­ery and EU align­ment process­es, and the role of gov­ern­ment, civ­il soci­ety, the pri­vate sec­tor, and inter­na­tion­al part­ners in advanc­ing cli­mate action.

COP30 is the 30th Con­fer­ence of the Par­ties to the Unit­ed Nations Frame­work Con­ven­tion on Cli­mate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held from 10 to 21 Novem­ber 2025 in Belém, Brazil. At the con­fer­ence, coun­tries review the results of their cli­mate actions and assess progress in imple­ment­ing com­mit­ments under the Con­ven­tion. Dur­ing the Con­fer­ence, rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the par­ties to the UNFCCC dis­cuss and adopt deci­sions on glob­al mea­sures to com­bat cli­mate change.

The event is orga­nized at the ini­tia­tive of the Min­istry of Econ­o­my, Envi­ron­ment and Agri­cul­ture of Ukraine with the sup­port of the IKI Inter­face and PAABS projects in coop­er­a­tion with the Unit­ed Nations Devel­op­ment Pro­gramme (UNDP) in Ukraine. The IKI Inter­face and PAABS projects are imple­ment­ed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Inter­na­tionale Zusam­me­nar­beit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Ger­man Fed­er­al Gov­ern­ment under the Inter­na­tion­al Cli­mate Ini­tia­tive (IKI).
