Last week, an important discussion on the reform of Ukraine’s district heating sector took place in Kyiv within the framework of the ReWarm project. The event brought together representatives of government structures, local communities, and international partners, who shared ideas on innovative solutions, legislative initiatives, and opportunities for the development of the energy sector.
During the meeting, proposals from local authorities of pilot cities (Kyiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and Zvyagel) were presented, focusing on necessary changes to national legislation aimed at improving the efficiency of the district heating sector. The discussion also highlighted the European Investment Bank’s support in the amount of €250 million for the development of infrastructure in this sector in Ukraine.
Additionally, innovative battery systems and other technologies were presented, aimed at significantly improving the efficiency of district heating. The experience of Cherkasy in district heating management was also discussed, along with plans to implement new technologies by Diehl Metering to increase energy efficiency.
The next steps will focus on the implementation of legislative changes, the introduction of innovative solutions, and the development of partnerships for a sustainable energy future in Ukraine. The ReWarm project continues its work, contributing to the improvement of energy efficiency and sustainable development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
