Funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the project undertakes a comprehensive stocktake of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration efforts in Ukraine. It maps current challenges, past and ongoing measures to identify gaps in biodiversity action. Using a participatory approach and structured dialogue, it strengthens shared understanding of the status quo and improves coordination among stakeholders committed to protecting nature. Building on this assessment, the project will gather proposals for future measures and conduct targeted deep dives to mobilise expertise and funding, helping to integrate biodiversity action into Ukraine’s green recovery across priority areas.
Objectives
To establish a shared understanding and commitment among key partners in Ukraine about the status quo, ongoing activities and gaps in biodiversity actions in Ukraine, enhancing cooperation and consistent communication with external stakeholders and funders.
To undertake targeted deep dives in identified priority spheres of need to mobilize expertise and finance for integrating biodiversity action into Ukraine’s green recovery.
