To transition and rebuild into a low-carbon economy in Ukraine, the measures outlined under Ukraine’s current NDC continue to be important to implement as fast as possible. The Project aims to accelerate Ukraine’s NDC implementation, specifically by promoting the uptake of investments in sustainable bioenergy, agri and land-use practices, and to support the operationalisation of carbon market mechanisms.

It contributes to low carbon transition and reconstruction by helping to meet its climate targets, mobilise domestic and international climate finance and unlocking bioenergy potential through a combination of capacity, policy and investment support.

Specifically, the Project will strengthen the enabling environment to incentivise the uptake of investments in sustainable bioenergy, soil productivity and sustainable land management practices. The project supports the Government of Ukraine in implementing the climate policies and priority actions to meet the adopted economy-wide GHG emissions reduction target of 65 percent by 2030 and other related green policies.
