On 25 May, a meeting of implementers of International Climate Initiative (IKI) projects took place in Kyiv. The meeting brought together 28 participants from IKI implementing organisations in Ukraine.
Through the IKI, Germany supports Ukraine in advancing climate policy and governance, adapting to climate change, protecting biodiversity, developing green finance, strengthening energy efficiency, and supporting the European integration process in the field of climate and biodiversity.
The meeting served as a platform for exchanging experience, coordinating activities, and strengthening cooperation among IKI projects in Ukraine. Participants discussed current areas of work, key challenges, as well as opportunities for enhancing the overall impact of projects in the context of Ukraine’s green recovery and European integration.

Particular attention was given to the interaction between projects, strengthening synergies, and improving coordination.
“Today, support for Ukraine in the field of climate and green recovery requires not only individual projects, but also strong cooperation between them. The IKI Interface Ukraine project creates a platform for coordination, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint solutions for all projects funded by Germany through the IKI in Ukraine. This cooperation helps strengthen the collective impact of projects and more effectively support Ukraine on its path toward climate and environmental transformation,” said Gabriel Sauer, Director of IKI Interface Ukraine project.
Such meetings create a space for structured dialogue between projects, enable better alignment of approaches, and help shape a shared vision for supporting Ukraine’s green recovery.
The IKI implementors meeting was organised by the project “IKI Interface: Supporting Ukraine towards Ambitious and Integrated Climate Policy (Green Ukraine)”, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUKN) under the International Climate Initiative (IKI), in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
