On November 1–2, the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY 2025) on climate change and environmental protection took place in Lviv, with the participation of the IKI Interface Ukraine project and the Ukrainian Climate Office (UCO).
The youth conference was organized by the UNICEF team together with the UNICEF Youth Council, bringing together around 100 active young people from across the country to exchange ideas, gain inspiration, and jointly search for solutions in the field of climate action. Its goal was to engage youth in sharing experiences, connecting with changemakers, and discussing key environmental challenges.

Afterwards, young participants took part in a Climate Game, where five youth teams developed creative solutions for key sectors — energy, transport, water resources, agriculture, and waste management. The participants presented innovative ideas for decarbonising these sectors and helping Ukraine advance towards climate neutrality.

Within the World Café session, the UCO team also presented its mission and current initiatives, discussing Ukraine’s climate commitments and the important role of young people in shaping a sustainable, low-carbon future.
At the conference, representatives of the UNICEF Youth Council also presented this year’s National Youth Statement of Ukraine — a contribution to the Global Youth Statement that will soon be presented at the UN Climate Conference (COP30).
The IKI Interface project and C4CA/Ukrainian Climate Office project (co-financed by the European Union) are implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Government under the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
