Ukraine and international partners will discuss the role of hydrogen in the country’s green transition. On 24 September 2026, the Hydrogen Symposium “Hydrogen Futures Ukraine — From Vision to Sustainable Value Chains” will take place in Lviv, under the motto “Imagine, Build and Live a Decarbonized Future.” The event will bring together government officials, industry leaders, researchers, civil society representatives, regional representatives and top experts to discuss green hydrogen as a real basis for Ukraine’s energy transition to the EU. The event will be held in Ukrainian and English, with simultaneous translation.
Participants will discuss how to move from hydrogen ideas to real projects, new jobs and real climate impact. The event will focus on the laws needed to grow the hydrogen sector in Ukraine, how to make early-stage projects attractive for investors, and Power-to‑X concepts. It will also cover links with European hydrogen infrastructure, including transport, storage and EU rules. There will also be discussions on climate impact, sustainability standards, developing the sector during the war, and a fair transition for the regions.
The main goal of the event is to show that green hydrogen is not just an idea for the future, but it is a real, working tool for Ukraine’s green transition, recovery, and connection to the EU energy system.
Main goals of the symposium:
- build a better understanding of the rules and market conditions needed to grow hydrogen supply chains in Ukraine, in line with European standards;
- discuss how renewable energy producers, technology developers and industry can work together;
- present ideas for Ukrainian hydrogen projects and discuss the rules with business and regulators;
- show how hydrogen can help create new jobs and a fair transition for Ukraine’s regions;
- strengthen cooperation between Ukraine, Germany and the EU by sharing experience and best practices.
Programme of the Day
The day will start with keynote speeches on hydrogen’s strategic role for Ukraine, followed by an expert discussion on Ukraine’s place in the global hydrogen shift. Then there will be several thematic sessions:
- connecting to the European transport and storage network;
- how hydrogen projects can become ready for investment;
- climate standards and preventing greenwashing;
- how Ukrainian regions can shift to a hydrogen economy.
The symposium will close with a call-to-action session — five concrete steps for Ukraine’s hydrogen future.
