Project News

On 2nd July 2025, the Federation of employers of Ukraine (FEU) and the GIZ project “Best Available Techniques (BAT) for Ukraine” signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The partnership aims to support Ukrainian industrial enterprises in adopting BAT and promoting sustainable, responsible business practices. The memorandum outlines cooperation in joint research, project development, and advancing environmental modernization in line with EU integration goals. The parties have already launched research on the timelines and financial needs of Ukrainian industries for BAT implementation, conducted jointly by the “Best Available Techniques for Ukraine” and “Supporting Ukraine in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and adaptation to the impact of climate change in the Black Sea region” (PAABS) projects. The document was signed by FEU General Director Ruslan Illichov, GIZ Project Director Gabriel Sauer, and GIZ Project Manager Andrii Hunko. This partnership is one more important step towards ecological modernization and support for Ukrainian business on its way to European integration.

Supporting Ukraine in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and adaptation to the impact of climate change in the Black Sea region (PAABS)

The project advises Ukraine on how to implement the Paris Agreement by promoting a low-carbon economy and climate-resilient future. It supports the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources (MEPR) in planning, realising and monitoring the transformation. To do so, it supports knowledge-building and provides instruments to align reporting on the Paris Agreement with international standards. This includes, for example, an IT system based on satellite images that is used to monitor land use and forest management.
