During IFAT 2026 in Munich, the workshop “From Projects to Partnerships: Opportunities in IFI-Funded Water Infrastructure Projects in Ukraine” brought together around 80 participants from German and Ukrainian businesses, financial institutions, and sector organisations.
The event was jointly organised by Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung, AHK Ukraine, German Water Partnership, and FELICITY II, creating a platform for dialogue on the recovery and modernisation of Ukraine’s water infrastructure. Participants explored the sector’s investment needs, upcoming projects supported by international financial institutions, procurement procedures, and approaches to building effective partnerships and consortia.

Particular attention was given to identifying practical pathways for translating available financing into implementable infrastructure projects. The workshop also provided an opportunity for Ukrainian and German stakeholders to establish new professional connections and explore avenues for future cooperation. As Ukraine continues to rebuild and modernise its water sector, international partnerships remain essential for mobilising expertise, technology, and investment needed to deliver resilient and sustainable services.
By fostering dialogue between municipalities, utilities, financial institutions, and the private sector, FELICITY II contributes to creating the conditions necessary for long-term investment and sustainable infrastructure development in Ukraine’s water sector.
FELICITY II is an international initiative supporting sustainable urban infrastructure development in Eastern European and Central Asia countries, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The programme provides technical and analytical assistance to municipalities to help them design and implement climate-friendly investments in water supply, wastewater management, and energy-efficient buildings.
FELICITY II is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the European Investment Bank and with the support of the German Federal Government, under the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
