In April 2025, Dr. Eva Kracht, Director-General for International and European Policy, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), with the participation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, visited the GIZ Energy and Climate Cluster in Kyiv. The visit was part of the strengthening of cooperation in the field of environmental protection, sustainable development, Ukraine’s European integration processes and the creation of the Ukrainian Green Recovery Platform (UGRP).
During the visit, a series of important meetings were organised. Dr. Eva Kracht (BMUV) met with representatives of NGOs (Centre for Environmental Initiatives “Ecodiya”, NGO “Ecology.Law.Human”, the National Ecological Centre of Ukraine, the Youth Climate Initiative ROZVIY, the Information Centre “Green Dossier”, and the NGO “Ecoclub” in Rivne), during which they discussed important issues for Ukraine, including the environmental impact of the war, the process of post-war green recovery, challenges in the areas of climate change and energy, and Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Also, Dr. Eva Kracht (BMUV) and Maximilian Tonner (Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine) met with representatives of the GIZ Energy and Climate Cluster projects, with the participation of Krzysztof Michalak, Senior Programme Manager, OECD. At the meeting, partners and project managers of PROGRESS, EU4ClimateResilience, BAT, EEDL, UCO, ETS presented key project results, future plans and prospects for green recovery on the agenda of the URC (Ukraine Recovery Conference) 2025 in Rome, Italy.
