Within the Germany Pavillion at the ReBuild Ukraine Conference 2025 in Warsaw, the GIZ project Best Available Techniques (BAT) for Ukraine presented its achievements in supporting Ukraine’s transition to EU-aligned environmental standards at the Germany pavilion.
The team highlighted how Ukraine’s ongoing alignment with the EU Industrial Emissions Directive is laying the groundwork for a cleaner, more efficient, and investment-ready Ukrainian industry. The German exhibitors and visitors learned about the project’s “One-Stop-Shop” blended-finance grant program, which has already co-financed four BAT-based modernization projects in total of €4 million and mobilized over €15 million in private investment. These pilot projects demonstrate how Ukrainian enterprises are reducing emissions, improving resource and energy efficiency, and increasingly adopting EU, often German, environmental technologies. It was noted that BAT for Ukraine project’s implementation is creating a growing market for green industrial solutions and accelerating Ukraine’s alignment with the EU Green Deal. Overall, the initiative is helping drive industrial competitiveness, environmental performance, and resilience as part of Ukraine’s green reconstruction.
The project “Best Available Techniques (BAT) for Ukraine” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
