Public voting has started in the Adapterra UA 2026 competition – an annual initiative of the NGO Ecoclub aimed at identifying, recognising and promoting practical solutions that help Ukrainian communities adapt to climate change. Voting is open from 15 September to 11 October 2026 on the adapterra.org.ua website.
Out of 51 applications from 19 regions of Ukraine, an independent jury selected 10 finalists. They include peatland restoration in Lviv, a grass mowing guide, eco-quests for children, the restoration of viticulture on demined land, as well as other solutions focused on protecting water resources, green spaces and promoting sustainable agriculture. Now, your vote will help decide the winners.
Choose your favourite project in each of the three categories:
- Initiative implemented by a municipality
- Initiative implemented by the public
- Methodological materials on climate change adaptation and vulnerability assessment
The winners will be announced at an award ceremony following the public voting. They will receive financial support of up to UAH 80,000 to further develop their initiatives, public recognition of their work, and promotion of their projects on the Adapterra UA information platform – helping more communities across Ukraine replicate successful solutions.

More about the competition:
The Adapterra UA 2026 competition is organised by the NGO Ecoclub within the framework of the project “Supporting Ukraine in Implementing the Paris Agreement and Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change in the Black Sea Region” (PAABS). It brings together projects that have already been implemented in Ukrainian communities in response to specific climate challenges, including droughts, flooding, extreme heat and other impacts of climate change.
Last year, more than 2,500 people voted for the finalist projects. Every vote matters: the more people learn about the solutions presented, the greater the chance that other communities across Ukraine will be able to adopt and replicate these successful approaches.
Cast your vote for your favourite project by 11 October!
Ecoclub is a member of the PAABS consortium. PAABS is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. PAABS stands for “Supporting Ukraine in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and adaptation to the impact of climate change in the Black Sea region”.
