Lviv hosted the 4th International Symposium “Rebuilding a Place to Call Home: Recovery Towards Net Zero” on 17–18 October 2025, bringing together around 100 participants from Ukraine and abroad.
The event gathered experts from academia, engineering, urban planning, environmental fields, international organisations and civil society. Over two days, speakers discussed climate policies, green reconstruction, spatial planning, land management and sustainable investment. The programme was structured into four tracks covering reforms for climate neutrality, innovations in construction, land-use planning and financing tools for Net Zero. Participants highlighted the need to integrate climate goals into all aspects of Ukraine’s recovery and strengthen cooperation across sectors.
The Symposium was organised by KSA’s Land and Housing Research Centre, Ecoaction, Oxford University’s Programme for Sustainable Urban Development, UN-Habitat Urban Lab Ukraine, CEE Bankwatch and the Ukrainian Catholic University with support from EU4ClimateResilience, project jointly co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
